MTV’s 2011 Hottest MCs In The Game continues. The nominees can be seen here in case you missed. They ended up putting Big Sean ahead of Wiz at the #8 spot and dropping Wiz down to the #9 spot. Enjoy.
Seems like MTV had a change a heart and did a switcharoo with Big Sean. Due to two albums and sold-out tours last year, Taylor Gang’s H.N.I.C. cracks the #9 spot.
“First of all, he won the Hottest Breakthrough MC and really fulfilled the promise that we all knew that he had,” MTV News Senior hip-hop Writer Rob Markman said. “To be this young and have this many accomplishments, almost three albums in a year, you gotta give it up to dude.”
Mac Miller and Cam’ron’s song ‘Dig That‘ wasn’t a one off leak. The two are working on a joint project together and Mac tells XXL what the sound is going to be like.
“Me and Cam are actually talking about doing a project together. We don’t know when we’re gonna do it. We have three or four songs recorded already. We’re working on more at this point.”
“We cut up a lot in the studio, and have a good time and make some dope music. I think the cool thing is that it’s an unexpected collaboration that actually turned out dope. We wanna do some soulful hip-hop shit, while also making some hard shit and some fun music. [We’re] making sure that we do it in a way that’s different than other people who have done projects together. It’s still in the brainstorming stage, but we definitely have some dope records done. He’s got a lot of knowledge in that he’s schooling me on.”

VIBE: You’ve said before that you didn’t really have fun recording Pink Friday.
Nicki Minaj: I felt like I had something to prove to everyone who said a female rapper could not make an album unless she was talking about her pussy. And so I went above and beyond to prove that I could not talk about sex and not talk about my genitalia and still have a successful album. And I proved that. And now my time for proving things to my critics is over. I don’t really need to prove anything to anyone else anymore.
